$80,000 is Bitcoin’s approximate trading level. A five-day sell-off in Bitcoin (BTC) is leading Monday’s broad cryptocurrency correction, with the Crypto King facing structural limits on further gains. A firm cluster of medium- to long-term moving averages nevertheless provides support, suggesting scope to absorb selling pressure.

Around $2,325, Ethereum (ETH) is edging down as sellers gain momentum and seek to maintain control of the trend. Ripple (XRP), by contrast, appears to be consolidating. Supply at $1.30 is restricting gains and the token’s recovery prospects.
Roughly 91% odds of unchanged rates are indicated by CME Group’s FedWatch Tool, against just 9% of market participants expecting an increase. The Federal Reserve (Fed) is widely expected to leave interest rates in the 3.75-4.00 range on Wednesday.
In September, a 25 basis point increase by the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) marked its first rate rise in three years. The committee cited persistent inflation and pressure on Oil and energy prices arising from the Middle East war.

The central bank remains committed to its 2% long-term inflation target, although price growth in the world’s largest economy is still above that level. Alongside the rate decision, investors will scrutinise Fed Chair Kevin Warsh’s remarks at the post-meeting conference for indications of the policy outlook. Economists are assigning a greater probability to a rate cut in December.
Monday’s Crypto Fear & Greed Index reading of 50, in Greed territory, points to subdued appetite for digital assets ahead of the FOMC meeting. The index stood at 54 in the same range a day earlier. It has also fallen from last month’s average of 74, underscoring macroeconomic and geopolitical uncertainty and the absence of a strong catalyst to sustain demand.

At $80,061, Bitcoin retains a constructive bullish bias above the $79,664 SuperTrend line and the longer-term 100-day and 200-day Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs), at $77,681 and $76,322 respectively. Immediate overhead resistance, however, comes from the 50-day EMA at $80,797. With the Relative Strength Index (RSI) easing to 41 and the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) histogram negative, bullish momentum appears to have cooled. Further near-term gains could therefore prove harder to achieve.

Around $79,664, the SuperTrend line offers the first support. Below it, the 100-day EMA at $77,681 and the 200-day EMA near $76,321 form a broader demand zone supporting the medium-term uptrend. A decisive daily close above the $80,797 50-day EMA would clear the way for further gains. Without a break above that barrier, BTC could consolidate or retreat to test nearby SuperTrend support again.
At $2,322, Ethereum sits only just above its 200-day EMA at $2,317. The broader tone remains bearish, with the 100-day EMA at $2,363 and the 50-day EMA at $2,459 acting as overhead constraints. Well above the spot price, the SuperTrend line at $2,580 adds to the downside bias. A falling MACD below zero and an RSI near 34 also point to continued selling, with conditions moving towards oversold levels rather than a recovery.

The 100-day EMA around $2,363 presents the first upside hurdle, ahead of the 50-day EMA near $2,459. Beyond those levels, a break above the stronger SuperTrend barrier at $2,580 would be needed to signal a more lasting bullish reversal. Immediate downside support rests at the $2,317 200-day EMA.
A deeper retreat would likely follow a daily close beneath that support. If it holds, however, ETH could consolidate before attempting another test of resistance in the mid-$2,300s.
At around $1.28, XRP remains below its key moving averages, preserving a bearish near-term bias. Overhead sit the 100-day EMA at $1.33, the 50-day EMA at $1.36 and the 200-day EMA at $1.37. These levels suggest rallies are likely to remain constrained while the broader downtrend persists.
Only marginal improvement in the MACD, which remains below zero, reinforces the weak momentum picture. The RSI is near 38, just above oversold territory, signalling continued downward pressure rather than a clear recovery.

A dense supply zone comprises initial resistance at the 100-day EMA around $1.33, the 50-day EMA near $1.36 and the 200-day EMA at $1.37. XRP would have to regain these levels to weaken the current bearish structure. Further above, the latest SuperTrend line at $1.45 presents a more distant obstacle alongside the broader falling resistance trendline. That trendline continues to trace lower highs, reinforcing the prevailing negative bias while price stays beneath this cluster of overhead barriers.

By market capitalisation, Bitcoin ranks as the largest cryptocurrency. It is a virtual currency intended to function as money. No single person, group or entity can control this payment method, removing the need for third parties to participate in financial transactions.
Any cryptocurrency other than Bitcoin is classified as an altcoin. Some also exclude Ethereum, however, because forks originate from these two cryptocurrencies. Under that interpretation, Litecoin is the first altcoin: it was forked from the Bitcoin protocol and is therefore an “improved” version of it.
Designed to maintain a stable price, stablecoins are cryptocurrencies backed by reserves of the assets they represent. Each stablecoin’s value is pegged to a commodity or financial instrument, such as the US Dollar (USD), while an algorithm or demand regulates its supply. Their primary purpose is to give investors a route into and out of cryptocurrency trading and investment. They also provide a means of storing value, given the volatility generally associated with cryptocurrencies.
The share of total cryptocurrency market capitalisation accounted for by Bitcoin is known as Bitcoin dominance. This ratio offers a clear indication of investor interest in Bitcoin. BTC dominance is typically high before and during a bull run, as investors favour relatively stable cryptocurrencies with large market capitalisations, such as Bitcoin. Falling BTC dominance generally signals that investors are shifting capital and/or profits into altcoins in pursuit of higher returns. This usually sparks a surge in altcoin rallies.
