Top 3 Price Predictions: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple – BTC slides below $80,000, ETH and XRP bears in control

  • Bitcoin extends its correction, trading below $79,900 on Monday after posting three consecutive weeks of losses.
  • Ethereum closes below the key ascending trendline, trading lower at $2,315, signaling weakness.
  • XRP slips below the key horizontal support around $1.30, raising the risk of a deeper correction.

Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) and Ripple (XRP) bears remain in control, extending losses on Monday after three straight weeks of declines. BTC slips below $80,000, while ETH and XRP follow BTC’s lead and trade lower at $2,315 and $1.30, respectively. The price action of these top three cryptocurrencies suggests weakening momentum indicators, raising the risk of a deeper correction.

Bitcoin moves below the $80,000 mark

Bitcoin price trades at $79,840 on Monday, holding above the 100-day and 200-day Exponential Moving Averages (EMAs) at $77,677 and $76,300, respectively, which underpin the broader uptrend, but it remains capped by the 50-day EMA at $80,787.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) at 40 points to fading bullish momentum, while the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) is negative and below its signal line with a still-weak histogram, suggesting that upside attempts are losing traction despite the supportive longer-term averages.

On the topside, immediate resistance is located at the 50-day EMA near $80,787, followed by the horizontal barrier at $85,000, where previous supply is likely to re-emerge.

On the downside, initial support is at the 100-day EMA around $77,677, ahead of a deeper structural floor at the 200-day EMA near $76,300; a daily close below this level would significantly weaken the medium-term bullish structure.

Ethereum breaks below key ascending trendline

Ethereum price trades at $2,314 on Monday, maintaining a bearish near-term bias as it holds under key EMAs. The 200-day EMA at $2,316 sits just overhead, with the former ascending trendline now turned resistance at $2,337 and the 100-day EMA at $2,362 reinforcing a capped structure.

The RSI near 32 signals building oversold conditions, while the MACD stays negative with subdued values, suggesting persistent downside pressure despite its proximity to oversold territory.

On the topside, immediate resistance is seen at the 200-day EMA at $2,316, followed by the broken support trendline around $2,337 and the 100-day EMA at $2,362. Above that, a horizontal barrier emerges near $2,400, followed by the 50-day EMA at $2,458 and the more distant resistance zone at $2,770.

On the downside, the next notable support aligns with the horizontal level at $1,823, where buyers could attempt to stabilize the broader uptrend if the current slide extends.

XRP closes below key support zone

XRP price trades at 1.291 on Monday, maintaining a bearish near-term bias as it holds below the 50-day, 100-day and 200-day EMAs. The RSI at 38 remains in weak territory, while the MACD remains slightly negative; both indicators suggest downside pressure remains dominant despite some loss of momentum.

On the topside, initial resistance appears at the psychological horizontal level of $1.30, followed by the 100-day EMA at $1.333 and the 50-day EMA at $1.361. Higher up, the 200-day EMA at $1.370 and the prior horizontal cap at $1.540 create a broader supply zone ahead of the major barrier at $1.900. With no meaningful support levels defined nearby, XRP would need to reclaim at least the $1.300–$1.333 area to ease the current bearish tone.

Cryptocurrency metrics FAQs

The developer or creator of each cryptocurrency decides on the total number of tokens that can be minted or issued. Only a certain number of these assets can be minted by mining, staking or other mechanisms. This is defined by the algorithm of the underlying blockchain technology. On the other hand, circulating supply can also be decreased via actions such as burning tokens, or mistakenly sending assets to addresses of other incompatible blockchains.

Market capitalization is the result of multiplying the circulating supply of a certain asset by the asset’s current market value.

Trading volume refers to the total number of tokens for a specific asset that has been transacted or exchanged between buyers and sellers within set trading hours, for example, 24 hours. It is used to gauge market sentiment, this metric combines all volumes on centralized exchanges and decentralized exchanges. Increasing trading volume often denotes the demand for a certain asset as more people are buying and selling the cryptocurrency.

Funding rates are a concept designed to encourage traders to take positions and ensure perpetual contract prices match spot markets. It defines a mechanism by exchanges to ensure that future prices and index prices periodic payments regularly converge. When the funding rate is positive, the price of the perpetual contract is higher than the mark price. This means traders who are bullish and have opened long positions pay traders who are in short positions. On the other hand, a negative funding rate means perpetual prices are below the mark price, and hence traders with short positions pay traders who have opened long positions.
